Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum star in ‘Fly Me to the Moon,’ a film about which there were few details, but which is one of the promises of movie billboards for this year.
“Fly Me to the Moon” Premiere Trailer: Movie Details
On April 8, Sony and Apple released the first trailer for “Fly Me to the Moon,” a romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum.
The rest of the film’s cast includes Nick Dillenburg, Anna Garcia, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Christian Zuber, Jim Rash, Ray Romano and Woody Harrelson.
The film is directed by Greg Berlanti, written by Rose Gilroy. Bill Kirstein and Keenan Flynn are credited with the original story.
Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Lia, Keenan Flynn and Sarah Schechter are producing, with Robert J. Dohrmann serving as executive producer.
What will the movie “Fly Me to the Moon” do?
“Fly Me to the Moon” centers on Kelly Jones (Johansson), a marketing genius tasked with improving NASA’s public image.
However, their arrival will complicate the already difficult task of Apollo 11 Moon launch manager Cole Davis (Tatum). To calm the waters in the White House, Jones is ordered to film a fake moon landing as an alternative to be televised in case the real mission fails.
The film is based on the true story of NASA’s mission to reach the moon in 1968, as well as conspiracy theories that the moon landing was nothing more than a set-up by the US government, but uses creative resources to tell a fiction.
Some fun facts about ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ include that Chris Evans was originally cast in the role of Tatum, while Jason Bateman was announced to direct the film. However, the latter left the project due to creative differences.
His departure changed the filming schedule, so Evans could not combine it with his participation in Netflix’s “Pain Hustlers”, so he was forced to withdraw from the project.
For her part, Scarlett Johansson has always been associated with the project.
In addition, Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum had already worked together in the movie “Hail, Caesar!” 2016, although on occasion they did not play as a couple.
When is the movie ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ coming out?
The film, directed by Greg Berlanti and written by Rose Gilroy, is scheduled to open in US theaters on July 14, 2024. It is currently unknown if it will be distributed on other dates in different countries.
