It has been 5 years since ‘Joker’ was released and one of the news that shocked the fans is that it would have a sequel.
Although there was a lot of speculation about it due to a lack of information, on April 9th, the first official trailer for ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ was finally released, lasting just over 2 minutes.

The Todd Phillips-directed film will once again star Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, who will reprise his role as Arthur Fleck. On the other hand, Lady Gaga will be the well-known favorite of the Joker, Harley Quinn.
Set in the chaotic and crime-ridden city of Gotham, the film follows Arthur’s growing madness. Remember that “Joker” ends with him locked up in Arkham Asylum, after causing chaos in the city and murdering a famous TV host.
The first official trailer confirmed that the plot continues in the said place where one day he has an encounter with a patient, who turns out to be Harley Quinn. Something important to note is that the images could confirm that in this story Harley will not be her psychiatrist and will instead be portrayed as a disturbed girl who, by chance, meets the Joker.
The two will end up falling madly in love and plan to escape the asylum to, apparently, cause chaos in Gotham again. Another thing that can be observed is the affection (or codependency?) the villain feels for his girlfriend, who could be able to manipulate him and convince him to do bad things (unlike other versions which we have seen, where he is or allows himself to be drawn into madness).
According to the portal ‘Variety’, it is unknown what the actual plot will be, but various reports say that it will be a musical with about 15 songs, which will have a lot of dancing and singing scenes. This would explain the reason for choosing Lady Gaga as Harley, since she is one of the most recognized singers and actresses of recent years.
The director of ‘Joker 2’ confirmed in an interview that although the film will be very musical, it will not differ from what we saw in the first part.
In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, other actors confirmed for the feature film will be Zazie Betz, who was seen in “Joker” as Sophie Dumond, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, Ken Loung, among others.

The first installment had a budget of $60 million, but now the figure for the sequel is rumored to have increased to $200 million, which reveals the high level of production that can be expected.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” will be released on October 4, 2024, but it is rumored that it could have its first screening at this year’s Venice Film Festival which runs from August 28 to September 7.
