The 2024 Oscars had important names and awards, and the event went viral on social media, especially in the USA: there was John Cena without clothes, jokes about Barbenheimer and even Ryan Gosling’s famous performance with “I’m Just Ken ”.
Faced with a sharp decline in audience following the pandemic, this year’s edition recorded a small but significant recovery, which occurred slowly year after year.
In 2021, the ceremony saw an audience loss of 60%, attracting just 10.4 million viewers, the worst number in recent years. In 2022 the event reached the threshold of 16.6 million spectators, improving the scenario. Last year it jumped to 18.7 million.
Also targeting the public, the 2024 Oscars changed the broadcast times of the awards. The move came as an attempt to avoid the crash on the US east coast. The strategy should probably be maintained next year – affecting time in Brazil – given the goal of remaining in prime time.
