Starting yesterday, you can shudder with fear in the cinema watching the first feature film of the American Arkasha Stevenson The Curse: The Origin. Not for children under 16, the film is set before Richard Donner’s 1976 classic Curse.
Directed by Gregory Peck, the original feature film tells the story of how the United States ambassador to London realizes that his five-year-old son, Damien, is nothing more than the reincarnation of the Antichrist.
A cult film that has spawned several sequels, remakes, spin-off series, and now a prequel (already well-received by the public), it’s part of the legacy of Richard Donner’s work, but designed to be accessible to fans of the original, as well as laypeople and those who I will reveal some secrets below.

Actor Ralph Ineson, seen in The Wizard and The Green Knight, plays Father Brennan, an Irish priest who appears in the original film as actor Patrick Troughton. The director clarifies: “Ralph was faithful to Troughton’s accent and was a great help in bringing the weight of this plot to the screen, which we feel wears on him physically and still haunts him.“
3 actors!
The Curse: The Origin stars three Game of Thrones actors: Charles Dance, Nell Tiger Free and Ralph Ineson. The former, in the iconic HBO series, plays the character of Tywin Lannister, both intelligent and cruel. The other stars Myrcella Baratheon, the biological daughter of Cersei and Jaime Lannister. Finally, the third plays the warrior Dagmer Clefjaw, who we don’t see much of but still stands out for her unsettling physique.
