The driver of the Porsche and his friends drank nine alcoholic drinks before the crash in SP, TV says

Fernando Sastre de Andrade Filho would have consumed whiskey and liqueurs with friends a few hours before the accident

Shortly before the Porsche crash, which killed the driver of an app in the east of Sao Paulo, the driver of the luxury car, his girlfriend and the couple of friends who accompanied him had drunk nine drinks in a restaurant. According to TV Globo, eight drinks with whiskey and liqueurs were consumed that night, as well as a caipirinha.

Among those involved are businessman Fernando Sastre de Andrade Filho, 24, who was driving the luxury car; the driver of the app, Ornaldo Viana, driving the Sandero hit by the Porsche and deceased; and the businessman’s friend, Marcus Vinicius Machado Rocha, 22. He was seriously injured in the accident and is still hospitalized after undergoing surgery, in one of which his spleen was removed.

The day after the accident, April 1, Fernando went to the police station to give a statement and stated that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. However, he admitted to having exceeded the road speed, which is 50 km/h. “It was a little above the allowable limit, but it wasn’t much above either,” he said, without providing numbers.

The version presented by him, and also by his girlfriend, was denied by the friend who accompanied him in the Porsche, Marcus Vinicius. Corroborating what the young man reported is the director of the plant where he was hours before the accident occurred.

According to the broadcaster, the four spent more than R$600 on food and drinks. The items include eight whiskey-based drinks with liqueur, lemon syrup and angostura. Afterwards, all four went to a poker house.

The accident that killed Ornaldo occurred shortly after leaving the gambling house. The friend said the driver of the Porsche had been drinking before driving and that he was “impaired”. Marcus’ lawyer told on TV how the night before the raid went.

  • According to Marcus, businessman Fernando Sastre drank in a restaurant, before going to the poker house.
  • In the gambling house the two would not have been together.
  • Then, when he was leaving, the friend said that Sastre was visibly upset and that there had been an argument.
  • Marcus would have offered to accompany his friend as a passenger so as not to do “nonsense”.
  • The last thing he remembers is that he was in the car and that Fernando Sastre was speeding.
  • Regarding the young man’s state of health, lawyer José Roberto Lourenço stated that Marcus Vinicius is stable and should be discharged in the next few days.

The case remains under investigation.

The military police officers who intervened in the accident did not subject the businessman to a breathalyzer. The conduct of the officers is analyzed, according to the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo (SSP-SP). In a statement, the ministry said the military police had opened an investigation and “if failure to comply with operational procedures is proven, police officers will be held responsible.”
