When it comes to adapting successful video game sagas, Prime Video knows how to do it. A year after the excellent The Last of Us, the platform returns with Fallout, which brings to the screen the retro-futuristic world developed by Bethesda studios since 1997.
Episode 8 of Fallout immerses us in a society that experienced a terrible nuclear disaster 200 years ago, which forced the “privileged” survivors to take refuge in basements, anti-nuclear bunkers. When one of its members, a young woman from Vault 33, comes to the surface in search of her father, she discovers a devastated and violent world.
Produced by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (who directed several episodes) and boasting a comfortable budget of $153 million, Fallout is a pleasant surprise for the spring of 2024. Hilariously trashy, full of mystery and a compelling cast of Walter Goggins and Ella Purnell. Anchor – this is the kind of series that will keep you interested in the weekend. And many AlloCiné viewers have already watched every episode.
New successful bet
With an excellent rating of 4.3 out of 5 from over 400 ratings, Fallout is already among the best Prime Video series and the best new releases of the year. The first impressions on his AlloCiné profile are usually hilarious, and he’s convinced gamers and newbies alike:
“Honestly, nothing to say, it’s super quality! The production and interpretation are impeccable. The story is original and engaging from the first episode. Absolutely sublime visuals and soundtrack. Gem of the year without hesitation!” (lia)
“So I try to distance myself and tell myself that Fallout on Prime Video: It’s close to perfect. The Soul of the World Exists: A very special post-apocalyptic world in a retro-futuristic style, where many factions populate the space in which we wander. (read H)
“A compelling sci-fi series, this nuclear post-apocalypse dystopia is a wonderful surprise… from Amazon! The means are well emphasized in this decorum, to the point where it is immersive and almost addictive from the first episode. ” (Spider Cinemaman)
“Humour, brutality and an irreverent gore side… The 3 main characters are really fascinating once you get to know their stories… Towards the end the three stories fit perfectly with some surprising revelations… The ending suggests a sequel. .. I want more…” (DX M.)
“A fantastic series, a true love letter to video game fans who will find here all the familiar elements of great fidelity. It’s efficient, well-thought-out, a good balance of action, exposition, world discovery… Wow, that’s good.” (Roobie)
While Fallout obviously has its detractors (who criticize it in particular for its non-existent narrative and some poorly handled special effects), that probably won’t stop the SF series from getting a second season.
