Anthracite on Netflix: Is Hatik’s Scar in the Series?

Anthracite: Secret of the Box Sect, a detective series inspired by a true story, Hattik plays Jaro Gat, an ex-convict on parole who tries to forget by returning to his home village in Leviona. Hosted by her uncle and aunt, she has a secret hope to see her daughter as soon as possible.

But when a woman mysteriously disappears, she’s the perfect suspect for the local police. His meeting with Ida (Noemi Schmidt), who gives him an alibi, leads him, despite himself, into an investigation that reveals many family secrets.

An impressive scar

Jaro’s character has experienced many dramas in his life, which lead him to Leviona, the town where his mother grew up. From the first episode, we discover that Jaro’s mother, Juliet, committed suicide by setting fire to the apartment she shared with her son.

While the boy apparently escaped unscathed, he still suffered after-effects from the event. Indeed, in episode 3, we see that the character played by Hatik has a burn scar on his back. But is it a real scar or a make-up made for the needs of the series?

“Lots of prep time”

At a press briefing for the launch of Anthracite: The Mystery of the Box Sect, Hattick admitted that the injury was indeed fake. When asked how she prepared for the role of Jaro, the singer-actress explained that Noemi Schmidt spent a lot more time on makeup than she did.

Noemi and I were two opposites. I got to the set completely calm, but he was there an hour early every morning to get ready.– he revealed with a laugh. “Unless you have scars– Ida’s interpreter insisted.

Yes, that’s true, but I only got them three times in the entire series– said Hatik. “I was scarred every time I saw him shirtless. So there was a lot of prep time to recreate them. While I was eating, the makeup artists applied the scars. But it wasn’t every day. This impressive scar is the result of only a few hours of makeup.
