In the early hours of this Tuesday (23), four Brazilians returned to action for the third day of competition in the Olympic Pit of the Pre-Olympic Shotgun in Doha, Qatar. Today’s race reserved the last of the five qualifying rounds for the men’s and women’s finals, in which five athletes qualified for each category. No Brazilian, however, advanced to the next stage. Hussein Daruich, in 72nd place, and Camilla Cosmoski, in 67th place, were the best placed in Brazil.
The competition
On the third day of the men’s competition, Brazil had three competitors. Hussein Daruich was the best among the three athletes. He made his last round perfectly and threw all 25 plates well. After that it was Leonardo Lustoza’s turn to score the targets and also score 25 points. Finally, Emilson Menarim completed the test with 22 correct dishes.
The general classification was the sum of the five heats, two on Sunday, two on Monday and one on Tuesday. Hussein Daruich then led Brazil 72nd overall, with 115 points. Leonardo Lustoza was the second best Brazilian, in 97th place with 113 points. While Emilson Menarim, tied on points with Leonardo, ranked 99th. The great champion of the day at the Espingarda Pre-Olympic was the Spaniard Andres Garcia who scored 46 points in the final. The podium is completed by the Italian Mauro De Filippis (45 points) and the Turkish Oguzhan Tuzun (35).

In the women’s competition, the only representative from Brazil was Camilla Cosmoski. She hit 19 of 25 targets in the fifth round of the Olympic pit. Camila thus reached a total of 102 points and ranked 67th overall. The great champion of the category was the Slovakian Zuzana Rehak, with 46 points in the final. Australians Laetisha Scanlan (42 points) and Penny Smith (32) completed the podium.
