‘Rebel Moon’ and ‘Army of the Dead’ Are Connected: Zack Snyder Reveals the Detail That Unites Them

“Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver” hit Netflix on April 19. Zack Snyder’s new film takes viewers back to the Rebel Moon universe, where the battle for survival continues.

Although the story occupies the characters and the world of the first one, one detail that perhaps not everyone noticed is that it is connected to another film of the acclaimed director: this is the bridge that unites them.

‘Rebel Moon’ Is Connected to ‘Army of the Dead’, Zack Snyder Confirms

In a recent chat with ComicBook.com, Zack Snyder confirmed the existence of a connection between the two franchises.

The director of both films revealed that a secondary character in ‘A Child of Fire’ (the first ‘Rebel Moon’ film) serves as a bridge to ‘Army of the Death’. This character is a Xanadita girl who briefly appears in a bar frequented by several of the main characters. According to Snyder, this character’s home planet Xanadu, named after the film starring Olivia Newton-John, is the origin of the zombie plague. Additionally, the character comes “directly from the Army animated series,” which inspired the 2021 live-action film of the same name.

“Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead can definitely exist in the same universe,” Snyder said. “There’s a character in the first movie, when they go into the bar and there’s a Xanadita, Xanadita is this blue girl with the glowing marks. “It’s straight out of the Army cartoon series we never finished.”

While that connection between the franchises isn’t on screen because the animated series never aired, Snyder didn’t rule out the possibility that one day we’ll see a crossover of these worlds: “There’s something interdimensional that they’re going through, so there’s a possibility for some strange combination to happen,” he said.

Zack Snyder Plans To Expand ‘Rebel Moon’ Universe, How Many Movies Will He Make?

In a recent interview with Radio Times, the director revealed that he has ambitious plans for ‘Rebel Moon’. “I think four makes sense. Four or six films, depending… I guess it’s whether every time we make one of these films we make two, that’s the question.”

Although “Rebel Moon: Part Three” has yet to get the green light, Snyder already has a clear vision of what he wants to happen. “We have the story absolutely ready, we’ve done all this work. “We’ve written a treatment for the film, so we’ll see how that goes,” he said.

When is “Rebel Moon 3” coming out?

While Zack Snyder has been optimistic about the future of this world, nothing is currently set in stone for the future of the movies, so we’ll have to wait for critical and general audience reception and the streaming service’s decisions to find out if and when there will be a third party.
