July 22: The Gray Man

The Gray Man is the title of Netflix’s summer action movie, but it’s also the name of the CIA’s most talented mercenary, whose identity no one knows. Everything changes when he accidentally discovers the agency’s dark secrets. His ex-killer colleague, a bit of a psychopath, takes it upon himself and starts a huge hunt.

Accustomed to Marvel blockbusters, Anthony and Joe Russo have entrusted the production of The Gray Man, which can rely on a five-star cast: Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick.

July 8: Dangerous Liaisons

Netflix has taken the literary monument of Coderlos de Laclos, which has been adapted many times for the big and small screen, to bring it into today’s age of social networks. This version 2.0 of Dangerous Liaisons, written and produced Rachel SwitzerlandFollows Selene, a romantic teenager who falls under the spell of a new high school bad boy in Biarritz, unaware that he has made a bet at her expense with a great influencer.

In the cast we find the influential Paola Locatelli (also in Chair Tendre, soon to be a Francetv slasher and the award-winning best French series in Series Mania) who plays Selene and Simon Reroll (Girlsquad) who plays Tristan. We also meet Alexis Michalik (Edmond’s director) in Christophe’s skin.

July 8: Sea Monster

After Moana, the legend of the end of the world, American filmmaker Chris Williams tells another aquatic epic with Le Monstre des Mers, an original Netflix animated production. We follow the great Jacob Holland, the famous watch hunter, as terrifying creatures roam the seas.

A true hero among heroes, Jacob Holland sees his everyday life turned upside down when young Macy Bramble sets sail on his legendary ship, finding an unexpected ally in her. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history. In the sound recording, we can mention the presence of Karl Urban and Jared Harris.

July 15: Conviction

Jane Austen’s last complete novel, published in 1817, Persuasion, has been adapted for Netflix by director Kerry Cracknell. This costume drama, worn by Dakota Johnson, Henry Goulding, Cosmo Jarvis, but also Richard E. Grant and Sookie Waterhouse should please the most romantic.

Persuasion tells the story of how Ann Elliott, a modern, non-conformist young woman who lives with her snobby family but is on the verge of bankruptcy, questions a decision she made years ago. She did fire Captain Frederick Wentworth years ago, but his return will anger Anne, who will have to put an end to the past or give this romance a second chance.
