Outlander: The long-awaited prequel begins filming soon!

Watch out, it spins! As we told you last February, the Outlander prequel series has found its main cast. And now, we learn, Outlander: Blood of My Blood is entering production The Hollywood Reporter.

Filming has just begun in Scotland. As previously announced, the series will focus on the parents of the parent series characters. Starz, the original network, previously said the prequel would focus on Jamie’s (Sam Hegan) mother and father. But Claire’s parents (Catriona Balfe) will be there too.

Harriet Slater (Pennyworth) and Jamie Roy will play Ellen Mackenzie and Brian Fraser, who later become Jamie’s parents in 18th century Scotland. Hermione Corfield (We Hunt Together) and Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) will play Julia Morriston and Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s parents, set in World War I England.

Roberts, showrunner of both Outlander and Blood of My Blood.”The origins of their relationship explore universal themes that transcend time, and we can’t wait for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories as they did with Claire and Jamie.“

Later in February, Starz announced the addition of four new cast members, all of whom will play younger versions of characters previously seen on Outlander. Rory Alexander Murtagh Fitzgibbons will play Fraser (Duncan Lacroix in the parent series).

Sam Retford will play Dougal McKenzie (played by Graeme McTavish in Outlander). Seamus Maclean Ross will play Dougal’s older brother Colum (Gary Lewis in Outlander), and Conor McNeill (HBO’s Industry) will play young Ned Gowan (played by Bill Patterson in Outlander).

And Outlander in all of this?

As for the main series, the second part of the seventh season of Outlander is expected to be released later this year (the first eight episodes aired in the summer of 2023), making it the eighth and final episode of the series. Starz began development on Blood of My Blood in early 2022 and officially ordered it in January 2023, the same time it announced that Outlander would wrap up its eighth season.

There is no known broadcaster for Blood of My Blood in France yet.
