Rebels are back in action in Rebel Moon Part 2, which Netflix released online a few days ago. Subscribers responded after Zack Snyder’s blockbuster reached the top 10 in several countries, including France.
Despite the murder of the press and spectators, who accuse him of A Repeat The first installment, Rebel Moon, remains a big release for Netflix. The platform paid more than $170 million for the first two installments and is expected to pay even more in the coming months.
6 hours of great show
In fact, the director is actively preparing for the release of two longer versions of Rebel Moon scheduled for this summer: this is what we call Director’s Cut. One per already released movie. The latter have a peculiarity of existence R-ratedWhich means they won’t be recommended for children under the age of 17 due to violence, profanity and sex scenes.
In recent interviewsSnyder confirmed that these longer versions will run 3 hours each (that’s 1 hour longer than the PG-13 versions) and that these are completely different edits:
“It’s more like a parallel world than a longer version. Things happen in the R-Rated version that we don’t even see in the other. The sequence of events is different, so it’s a really interesting exercise.
The director we interviewed and his cast – led by Sofia Boutella – preferred to keep the content of this director’s cut a secret, even if they admitted to having seen the first version. But we already know what to expect from these edits: deeper characters, a different story from one film to another, a more important role for the robot voiced by Anthony Hopkins, and a little less slow motion…
Will this be enough to make subscribers want to (re)discover Rebel Moon and allow Zack Snyder to make a third film? We’ll have to wait until this summer, or even next school year, to find out.
