Leila Pereira is invited to appear at the Senate IPC

The president of Palmeiras will testify on May 22 during the manipulation investigations in Brazil

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has received an invitation to testify before the Senate’s ICC, created to investigate suspicions of game manipulation in Brazilian football. Verdão’s representative will have to appear on May 22, at 11 am, to rule on the case.

One of the first acts of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI), in fact, was the approval of the requests to invite the president of Palmeiras and also the owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor, to testify. The American spoke this week.

The invitation to Leila Pereira came largely from an old statement by John Textor. The owner of SAF do Botafogo declared that he “has proof that Palmeiras has been benefiting for two years”. Furthermore, he accused five Sao Paulo players of having manipulated the defeat suffered by Alviverde in last year’s Brasileirão. For this reason Verdão took the American to court and the businesswoman ended up being invited to testify.

“Textor thinks that Brazil is a disaster and that the authorities do not intervene. This man must be banned from Brazilian football. How can I disappoint without proof? This is irresponsible,” Leila Pereira told the ‘Roda’ program. Viva’.

Finally, this week, Textor presented documents to the ICC which he cites as evidence of manipulation in Brazilian football. It is based on reports from the French company “Good Game!”. Furthermore, the American showed videos reporting possible strange movements of suspicious offers.
