The main themes were at Bett Brasil, considered the largest education innovation and technology event in all of Latin America
Talking about education is not easy. There is no single path, experiences are not unique and, more and more, the possibilities of directions to take in the search for quality basic education for all are multiplying. Today, artificial intelligence and student social-emotional skills stand out as tools to achieve this goal.
At least this is what Bett Brasil showed, considered the largest education innovation and technology fair in Latin America, which took place from April 23 to 26, at the Expo Center Norte, in Sao Paulo. The theme of the 29th edition of the fair already signaled the demand from the sector: “Innovation with purpose: education in dialogue with social transformations”.
The over 300 exhibiting brands responded, with tools and solutions that, for the most part, alternated the use of artificial intelligence in the school routine and the development of emotional, social and behavioral skills that impact learning.
“We are in an era where technologies are advancing rapidly, but the human ability to adapt and integrate these innovations is still slow. Artificial intelligence is here to stay, and the challenge now is to learn to live with this new reality, ensuring people’s emotional development and social feelings,” says Adriana Martinelli, director of content at Bett Brasil.
The corridors of the fair were filled with examples representative of Adriana’s perspective on artificial intelligence. It was difficult to get through an area without finding some tool that used artificial intelligence. The report of Earth During his two-day visit, he found, for example, models of essay marking platforms and gamified teaching materials, as well as other solutions that use technology as a support to facilitate the teaching-learning process.
Debates on the topic were also held in the 12 rooms with simultaneous programming. Researcher Walter Goya, consultant in educational technologies at the Transformative Learning Technologies Lab and holding a seminar on ChatBots, warned of the attention that this new pedagogical moment requires.
“People think that technology is neutral. But in reality it is not. Because whoever uses the tool, who develops it, can end up influencing, even unconsciously, the final result of the products – be it an educational sequence, a lesson, an activity or something,” he explained Earthin the relationship ChatGPT to produce classes? Social-emotional skills in debate
Regarding social-emotional skills, the most important milestone of the fair was the dissemination of the study “Social and emotional skills for a better life” (“Socio-emotional skills for a better life”, in free translation), conducted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Ayrton Senna Institute was the entity’s partner in collecting data on the topic in Brazil.
This was the first time that Brazil was included in the list of countries where the research took place. The municipality chosen for the study was Sobral, in Ceará. The city ranks first in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb).
Research has revealed that social-emotional skills have a direct impact not only on students’ academic performance, but also on their psychological well-being and the progress they make in different areas of their lives.

Despite its importance, Karen Teixeira, head of research at the institute, believes this debate has yet to gain traction. On the other hand, the issue seems to have already conquered the education market. In Bett, for example, several stands shed light on the issue, such as the Program Líder em Mim of Somos Educação. The initiative is contracted by schools that want to develop social-emotional skills in educators, children and adolescents.
According to Luciana Patrocínio, head of Complementary Solutions at the company, demand for the initiative has grown and it is essential that this debate is part of the school community.
“Social-emotional skills will develop throughout our lives, experiences with emotions will be renewed in every context we live in, management will always and forever have to be worked out,” he argues.
