From 6 years

While trying to rescue a golden eagle trapped in a net in the Australian bush, a small cod was kidnapped by poacher Percival McLeach.

To help him, on the other side of the world, the SOS Society has already chosen two of its best agents: the mice Bernard and Bianca, who have already proven their bravery in the past, but who are currently sharing a romantic candlelit dinner. An elegant New York restaurant.

The dawn of a new golden age

We’re in the early 90s, Disney’s artists have hit the big time with the release of The Little Mermaid, and everyone can sense that something big is brewing in the studio’s workshops, that a new legendary chapter is about to be written.

While future classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King were meticulously developed, in 1991 the Enchanted Company presented the first animated sequel in its history: Bernard and Bianca in Kangaroo Country.

Without achieving the perfection of the later films, this new Australian adventure for our two favorite mice still shows undeniable qualities and a particularly convincing use of computer-generated images, which are very effectively integrated into the traditional animation of a feature film (four years before Toy Story, Pixar artists were already working wonders for Disney- in).

A breathtaking intro scene

But the film’s crowning glory, without the slightest doubt, lies in its exceptional opening sequence, which we’d even guess is among the greatest scenes in the history of Enchanted Studios.

Even before Bernard and Bianca intervene in the feature film, the powerful and wild flight of the Marahuti eagle carrying little Cody on its back, with a great original soundtrack and high-quality animation, is a delight for any Disney fan.

Beauty, power, emotion, magic…: this single sequence already has all the necessary ingredients that will make the studio successful in the next decade.

What will you like…

  • Lovely romance between the two characters, and especially Bernard’s repeated attempts to marry Bianca.
  • Hilarious secondary characters, starting with Wilbur the Albatross (Orville’s brother) and Frank the Lizard.

What could be bothering them…

  • The dreaded poacher Percival McLeach, both greedy and cruel, and his nasty pet monitor lizard, the obnoxious (but funny) Joanna.
