Coxa Branca guaranteed a positive result with a goal from Brandão in the second half.
In a match valid for the 2nd round of the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship, Coritiba hosted Brusque returning to the Couto Pereira Stadium. With a strong performance especially in the second half, Coxa won 1-0. The goal of the match was scored by Brandão.
Even away from home, Brusque created the first chance with Alex Ruan who shot from distance, but sent it wide. Goalkeeper Pedro Morisco, of Coritiba, had to make a great save after the arrival of Moccelin, thus preventing what could have been a goal for the visiting team.
With difficulty, Coritiba only had their first chance in the 25th minute, when Figueiredo received the ball in front and shot crookedly, over the back line. Brusque scored in the 29th minute, with Dionísio, but the action was disallowed for a foul at the start of the action after the VAR analysis. This way the first half doesn’t end at 0-0.
Upon returning to the second phase, the first opportunity came just three minutes later, when, from a corner, Leandro Damião appeared freely and headed the ball, but the ball bounced and went out. Better in the game, Coxa had another chance shortly after with Ronier, but the ball caught Brusque’s defense.
Until in the 39th minute, after a cross into the area, Leandro Damião sent a header to Brandão, who, also with a header, completed the goal and opened the scoring for Couto Pereira: Coritiba 1-0 at the end of the match, it was still there half Leandro Damião was sent off for delaying the restart of the game, but this did not prevent Coritiba from winning.
With the result, Coritiba achieved its first victory in Serie B and reached the four points. Brusque, in turn, remains with three totals so far. In the next round of Serie B, Coritiba will host Sport, next Friday (03), at 8.30pm (Brasilia time). Brusque, however, will take the field on Sunday (05), when they host Goiás, at 4.00 pm.
