The last day of the Under 15 and Under 19 South American Table Tennis Championships has ended and Brazil has secured ten more medals in the matches held in Santiago, Chile. Thus, in the mixed doubles and singles tournaments, three gold, two silver and five bronze. With this Sunday’s results, therefore, Brazil closes the competition with a total of 20 successes: eight gold, six silver and six bronze.
First of all in the final of the 100% Brazilian mixed doubles, Under 19 category, best for Leonardo Iizuka and Beatriz Kanashiro. Facing Victória Strassburger and Lucas Romanski, Leo and Beatriz secured the top step of the podium by triumphing by 3 sets to 1 (6/11, 11/6, 11/7 and 11/4).
Then, Leonardo Iizuka returned to the top step of the podium to receive the individual gold medal in the U19 category. In the duel against the Venezuelan Carlos Rios, he won by 4 sets to 1 with scores of 11/8, 11/9, 9/11, 11/8 and 11/8.
The third Brazilian title came in the individual women’s Under 19 category. Mahayla Sardá beat Chilean Catalina Ramirez by 3 sets to 0, with splits of 15/13, 11/9 and 11/3, and won gold.
In addition to securing silver with Victória Strassburger and Lucas Romanski in the mixed doubles tournament, Brazil also took second place in the U19 women’s singles. Victoria Strassburger was defeated by the Chilean Fernanda Araneda by 4 sets to 2, with scores of 10/12, 11/8, 11/5, 8/11, 10/12 and 12/14.
Three Brazilian semi-finals and five bronze medals secured
Brazil still won five bronze medals in Santiago, three of which came in the Brazilian semi-finals. Raiane Heidrich faced the champion Mahayla Sardá, but she lost by 3 sets to 0, with splits of 6/11, 3/11 and 8/11.
Sabrina Miyabara faced silver medalist Victória Strassburger and the Brazilian duel ended in 4 sets to 1, with scores of 7/11, 11/7, 5/11, 6/11 and 7/11.
On the other side of the bracket, Beatriz Kanashiro secured bronze in her duel against Chilean Fernanda Araneda. On the table, partials of 11/8, 11/8. 9/11 and 5/11 and setback 4 sets to 0.
Lucas Romanski went to the table against Leonardo Iizuka, who won the title in Chile. In the semi-final he lost by 4 sets to 0, with scores 3/11, 5/11, 6/11 and 6/11.
Finally, on the other side of the U19 group, Felipe Arado was defeated by Venezuelan Carlos Rios, second place: 4 sets to 2, with scores of 8/11, 10/12, 11/6, 8/11, 11. / 8 and 8/11.
