Announced in 2022, the prequel to The Lion King promises to show everything we thought we knew about Mufasa, according to the director’s words in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
At the time, Jenkins also predicted that familiar faces would be featured in the plot, showing the trajectory and rise of not only the protagonist, but important characters such as the King.
“It’s a prequel, but again it’s a prequel in the sense that these are all the same characters, but we’re telling you how they became who they are. So we’re literally going backwards. We go back in time with a lot of these characters. We too are in the present, but we will come back to tell you who they were before.”
