Aaron Sorkin blames Mark Zuckerberg for January 6th
Aaron Sorkin stated that The social network (2010), directed by David Fincherwill gain a sequel focused on the invasion of the Capitol, in Washington DC, which took place on January 6, 2021.
During participation in the podcast The Town (via NME), the screenwriter told the presenter: “I’m going to write about it. I blame Facebook for January 6th.”
“Facebook has, among other things, tweaked its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible, because that’s what will increase engagement,” he continued.
“This is what will get you to what they call in the Facebook corridors ‘infinite scrolling’…” he said, blaming Mark Zuckerberg. “There should be a constant tension at Facebook between growth and integrity. There isn’t. It’s just growth.”
In 2019, Sorkin had already hinted at a sequel to the film about the creation of Facebook: “First of all, I knew a lot more about Facebook in 2005 than I know in 2018.”
“But I know enough to understand that there should be a sequel. A lot of very interesting and dramatic things have happened since the end of the film with the settlement of the brothers’ lawsuit Winklevoss It is Eduardo Saverin“, said.
