LeBron deceives about his future at the Lakers and could stop earning R$266 million

The 39-year-old star failed to avoid elimination in the playoffs

LeBron James there is no going back to Los Angeles Lakers as certainly for next season. The team was eliminated by Denver Nuggets in the early hours of this Tuesday the 30th, with the 108-106 defeat in game 5 of the first round series of the playoffs in NBA. At 39 years old, the American basketball star did not want to talk about his future. This was LeBron’s 21st season in the NBA.

“I don’t have an answer, to be honest. I haven’t thought about it much. We’ll look into it when we need to,” LeBron said of the decision to continue for a 22nd year in the NBA. He has until June 29 to enter the final year of his contract with the Lakers. If the basketball star chose to play, he would receive $51.4 million (R$266 million). The amount will not be paid if he chooses to become a free agent.

The priority now, according to LeBron, is to spend time with his family. In July he will join the United States team for the Paris Olympic Games. The winger has already won gold in Beijing-2008 and London-2012.

LeBron has been with the Lakers since 2018, when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers after his second stint with the team. He debuted in the NBA in 2003, for the Ohio team. In 2010 he moved to the Miami Heat, until returning to the first team. The athlete was champion four times (2012, 2013, 2016 and 2020). He has also been the best player of the championship four times (2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013) and the best player of the final four times (2012, 2013, 2016 and 2020).
