Is it worth checking out?

La Recrue combines humor, investigation and emotion quite well. TF1 continues to want to refresh the genre of detective fiction, and it is clear that the channel is diligently continuing its efforts to modernize this type of programming.

In this sense, choose Ethan Isidore (who revealed which iconic sitcom character he’s eyeing on screen) Playing the role of Kevin was wise. The young man is sunny in each of his scenes and his naturalness is disarming. Thanks to the freshness of his interpretation, he moves easily between the comic and the dramatic (we can also applaud his disturbing performance at the end of the season).

In contrast to him, Thierry Neyvich (who, however, is not his first attempt to slip into the shoes of a policeman) offers us something completely different from the usual. The experienced actor is surprising with his humor (alchemy works in a duet) and also with his sensitivity.

Because yes, even if La Recrue is first and foremost a detective series, the emotion (without falling entirely into good feelings… but still a little!) is there, especially thanks to Kevin and Vincent’s difficult personal journeys. Plus, it’s fun to tell their failed love stories… On the investigative side, our tandem missions are fun, and watching Ethan Isidore chain different costumes to make his character go incognito is pretty fun!

Finally, this project takes place in and around Biarritz. Viewing the ocean, beaches and city architecture on TV is a real treat! The natural settings of the series are excellent and really stand out from other series images.

Our heroes persevere through their high-risk assignments… even if we don’t necessarily believe it. As we said, TF1 is going in the right direction, there is progress. But some bad habits still die hard…
