The fifth Sunday of matches of the NWSL, the women’s soccer league in the United States, could bring together just ten Brazilian players if they all took to the field. However, only one of them was a starter for his team. Defender Rafaelle, captain of the Brazilian team, started in the Orlando Pride’s eleven in the 1-0 victory against Racing Louisville, the club of midfielder Ary Borges, who was not on the list, as was midfielder Marta. In the second half, striker Adriana entered the field.
The Orlando Pride, formed by the Brazilians Rafaelle, Marta, Luana and Adriana, won 1-0 at home in the NWSL, a goal scored by the attacker Barbra Banda, in the 17th minute of the first half. The Zambian player received a cross from defender Emily Sams and headed it into the net from near the six yard box. Rafaelle remained on the pitch for the 90 minutes plus injury time. Adriana came on in the second half in place of fellow striker Summer Yates.
Andressa Alves x Debinha
In the other duel of the NWSL with Brazilians on both sides, the result was a draw: 1 to 1. The meeting between the compatriots took place with the midfielder Andressa Alves, for Houston Dash, and the attacker Debinha, for Kansas City Current, which did not list forward Bia Zaneratto and defenseman Lauren. The two Brazilians entered the second phase and were not protagonists. The goals were scored by forwards Temwa Chawinga, for the Kansas City Currente, and Amanda West, who tied for the Houston Dash.
