Success in cinemas, film with Brendan Fraser turns 25 this Tuesday (7)
More than 20 years before starring The whale (2022) and be nominated for the Oscars 2023 in Best Actor by the film, Brendan Fraser achieved worldwide success with The Mummy (1999), action and adventure film in which he played Rick O’Connell. However, the production, which turns 25 years old this Tuesday (7), had a bizarre behind-the-scenes event: the artist “almost” died during filming.
During an interview with The Kelly Clarkson Showthe actor recalled this frightening moment on the set of The Mummy. “Almost [morri]… well, I was accidentally suffocated,” he said. “There’s a hanging scene in the film.”
“I was tiptoeing like that with the rope and you only got so far,” he continued Fraser. “Stephen [Sommers, diretor] ran over and said, ‘Hey, it doesn’t look like you’re being hanged. Can you sell this?'”
However, it was after that that the situation got drastically worse for the artist: “The camera panned and I went up on tiptoe. The guy holding the rope above me pulled it a little higher and I was stuck on tiptoe, and There was nowhere to go but down.”
Then he would pull it up and I would go down. And then the next thing I knew, my elbow was in my ear, the world was sideways and there was gravel in my teeth.
