This is a phenomenon in cinema! In 5 days, Un P’tit truc en plus has already reached a million downloads and the word of mouth surrounding Artus’ film is excellent, with a 4.3 out of 5 rating on AlloCiné.
Viewers appreciate the film’s humor and the great kindness it shows. Especially the group of actors around Artus and Alisa Bellaid is unanimous: a fun and attractive bunch!
How did Artus choose the casting? Did he use actors with disabilities? Here is the answer!
“I had the basis of the script, the beginnings of the dialogue and the structure developed by Clement Marchand and Milan Mauger. But, very quickly, I explained to my producers that I couldn’t continue until the casting was over.
I wanted us to be honest and write as close to them as possible
I didn’t want actors, I didn’t want them to act, I wanted it to be true and as close as possible to them: Arno is a real fan of Dalida, before the tattoo. Boris is really disguised and these are his costumes – I made them up, they told me it was too much… I wanted them to be what they are out of respect. And I didn’t even see Boris’ disguises anymore: he’s just like that, that’s all.“

Casting made using Instagram!
“I made an Instagram post. I didn’t have any specific criteria, I wasn’t locked into anything, any skills, but I wanted personalities. And then they have to work together to create the best team. I saw about fifty candidates in total… and the power of the educators surprised me again: they are paid, but sometimes they come from very far, in a minibus, with two, three, four adults. Be careful… they believe in themselves, they love their work, they go! I already knew this, but it threw me off.“
On our microphone, Artus clarifies:I took inspiration from them because if I were to play an adult with Down syndrome who is a fan of Dalida and I had to find the boy who really is, it would be difficult! I actually ran them through before I finished writing because I wanted it to really be them.“
This is also to avoid criticism.
and added: “It’s also to protect myself from criticism, because today if someone says to me, don’t you think that a guy who dresses in a ketchup bottle and a banana is too much? I would say: go tell him, because actually he is like that in life. Boris, these are his disguises. The personalities that people discover in this film are really them. Of course, except for the things we drew: Marie never got shot in the face in her life, even if there was one that wasn’t planned and actually hit!
About the genesis of the film, Artus says:The desire to make this film goes even further than creating Sylvain’s character. There was also a sketch about disability sports. It’s a topic I’ve always dealt with because it’s always been taboo. It is important for me to talk about it because we need to “break” it. I don’t know if it’s been said or not, but anyway, the day the taboo is no more, we’ll pass the stage. (…) it is necessary to talk about it. Like many topics and many things that need to be trivialized.“
“1,000,000 thanks ❤️!!! Thanks everyone, it’s absolutely crazy 🤯! We are on cloud nine, it’s a dream! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We kiss you! 🎉❤️“
