Intimacy coordinators have become an important part of filming, since this person has a script with all the movements that the actors will make in the sex scenes, so that everything remains as agreed.
The recently released movie ‘Love Lies Bleeding’, starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, shared in an interview what the process of filming the sexual content was like.
This is what it was like to record the sex scenes in ‘Love, Lies and Blood’
This movie tells the story of Lou (Kristen Stewart), a female gym manager who falls madly in love with Jackie (Katy O’Brian), an aspiring bodybuilder who goes to Las Vegas in search of her dream. But their love ignites violence, drawing them dangerously into Lou’s family’s criminal network.
As O’Brian told People magazine, filming the intimate moments involved a meticulous process and strict protocols.
To avoid direct contact between the artists, the production team’s intimacy coordinator implemented the use of multiple layers of fabric and other elements such as cut-up yoga balls, all secured with duct tape, with the aim of creating a physical barrier between the recordings.
Although it seems somewhat unconventional, these technical resources meet a protocol that guarantees the well-being and comfort of the actors.
Intimacy coordinators, an important element in filming
Filming such intimate sequences involves painstaking work and implementation of safety measures for the performers.
The movie “Miller’s Girl,” starring Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman, was heavily criticized online earlier this year because of the sex scenes the stars filmed, highlighting the age gap.
Responding to these claims about the process of filming the explicit scenes, intimacy coordinator Kristina Arjona spoke exclusively to DailyMail, where she said that they always try to make both actors feel comfortable during the recordings.
