After portraying Sir Elton John, Taron Egerton hopes to one day portray another iconic figure: the X-Men’s Logan.
Taron Egerton, best known for playing Eggsy in the first two Kingsmans, sat down with The New York Times to promote his new Apple TV+ series, Black Bird. In an interview published Friday, the actor says he met with Marvel Studios executives, including president Kevin Feige, and that he wants to follow in Hugh Jackman’s footsteps as the next Wolverine.

The Rocketman star, however, admitted he would be a little “intimidated” if given the chance to play the iconic X-Men character.
“I don’t think it’s a mistake to say thatsaid Egerton, 32, laughing at the interest in the role. “I’d be thrilled, but also terrified, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I wonder if anyone else would have a hard time doing it.But his desire is there:But I hope if it happens they will give me a chance.“
And this is not the first time that the young man has spoken publicly about the character. In 2019, he actually told British GQ that he knew some Marvel fans were hoping to see him play the character. “The fact that someone thinks I’d be good for the role is really flattering. I love Marvel, but it’s just for the fans. There is no basis for these rumours.“- he said then.
In addition, still interviewed by the Times, Taron Egerton admitted that his roles – which have been panned by critics – in the 2018 films Robin Hood and The Billionaire Boys Club were not good.
“I ignored my instincts for these two jobs because I was offered a lot of money to do them. And it’s just fatal. You cannot select roles this way.“
But to portray the Marvel hero, the actor could use some valuable advice… from a former Wolverine himself! Indeed, the two actors co-starred in Dexter Fletcher’s comedy-drama Eddie the Eagle (2016), before Hugh Jackman last played the clawed hero in 2017’s Logan.
