However, on Tuesday he returned to the unit complaining of abdominal pain, according to information from local broadcaster “TV Anhanguera”, affiliated with the Globo network.

The victim’s family reported to the Civil Police that Fábia was screaming in pain, but that the doctors on duty did not examine her or ask for tests. In an attempt to save her, they requested that she be transferred to another hospital, but she did not survive.

In a note to Earththe plastic surgeon responsible for the operation, Dr. Nelson Fernandes, lamented the patient’s death and told his version of events.

“I would like to clarify that last Saturday (4) I performed two surgeries on Ms. Fábia, without incident. The patient expressed no complaints at her postoperative return appointment and her recovery was progressing as expected. On Tuesday, however, the patient showed up at the hospital, presenting complaints that were immediately verified. However, despite the instability presented, the family chose to move to another hospital,” she said in a statement.

He also underlined that he provided care to Fábia “always following the appropriate protocols and recommended medical practices”.

“Appreciating the health and recovery of my patients is a top priority in my medical work and Ms. Fábia’s death saddens me deeply,” he said.

The Unique Hospital also lamented Fábia’s death and reported that all safety measures were strictly followed and that there was no negligence on the part of the medical team.

“The hospital advised the relatives not to shift her to another unit due to the patient’s unstable condition. However, the family decided to move, claiming that there was a family doctor working in another institution. To do this, they hired ambulance services, even though they were expendable. Unique Hospital, in its medical recommendation, with particular caution, assessed the associated risks and advised against the transfer until the patient was stabilized. The critical condition was communicated to the relatives, explaining the risks it entailed and the need to wait for the patient to stabilize before undergoing a CT scan. Despite this, the relatives decided to proceed with the transfer, taking full responsibility for the decision,” she explained in a statement Earth.

The unit also said that it believes it is too early to draw definitive conclusions, as investigations into the circumstances of the incident are still ongoing, and that it will cooperate with the authorities.
