Alison dos Santos wins and breaks Diamond League record

One of Brazil’s main medal hopes at Paris 2024, Alison dos Santos achieved, this Friday (10), another important result before the Olympics. The Brazilian competed in the 400 meters hurdles final at the Doha Stage of the Athletics Diamond League. She crossed the finish line with a time of 46.86 and placed 1st. This was the fourth best score of her career and, as a bonus, she also broke the championship record, which also belonged to her.

World champion in her category and bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020, Alison dos Santos went to compete in Qatar to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games. Recently, Piu completed a year of knee surgery and, for those who suspected, she proved to be 100% physically in Doha.

In the final, the Brazilian made an impressive run in the last 100 meters and reached almost 2 seconds ahead of second place. Finally, this was the best mark of the season among all athletes, and the fourteenth fastest time in the history of the 400 meters hurdles.

Calendar before Paris

The next stop of the Diamond League featuring the 400 hurdles will be in Eugene on May 25th. This is the city where Alison dos Santos became world champion in 2022.
