New field hospital built in Gaza, Israeli military says

The Israeli army said on Saturday that a new field hospital has been established in the center of the Gaza Strip. The hospital would be run by International Medical Corp, a non-governmental organization.

“The field hospital will be staffed by 150 international doctors and the dozens of beds can be used for emergency and routine medical care,” the military said in a statement.

Israel has faced growing international pressure and says it is increasing the amount of humanitarian aid going to Gaza. Seven more field hospitals have been established since the war began in October.

The war was triggered by a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7. According to Israeli records, around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 were taken hostage.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the Israeli military operation in Gaza has killed around 35,000 Palestinians. The bombings have devastated the coastal enclave controlled by Hamas and caused a profound humanitarian crisis.
