The Brazilian Cassio Rippel concluded, this Saturday (11th), his participation in the Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Brazilian athlete competed in the second event of the 50-meter three-position rifle, improving his score, but failed to advance to the final of the competition. He scored 580 points and was in 42nd place.
The men’s 50m three-position air rifle qualifiers saw the participation of 64 athletes in this second phase of the World Cup. They each performed two sets of ten strikes in the kneeling, lying and standing positions. Cassio Rippel started well and scored 196 points kneeling and 196 points lying down, giving hope of being in the top eight and qualifying for the final. However, in the standing series, he scored 188 points and fell in the overall standings.
The eighth and last place in the final was the Finnish Aleksi Leppa, with 588 points, eight more than the Brazilian. The first place in the qualifiers was the Australian Alexander Schmirl, with 593. Finally, in the final of the tournament, the Chinese Yukun Liu reached the score of 468.9, setting the new world record and winning the gold of the Cup World Shooting Sports in Baku.
Finally, it is worth remembering that in the first test, held last Friday (8), Cassio ranked 61st in the qualifying phase, with 575 points. The Brazilian thus achieved an improvement of more than ten points compared to the previous phase.
