Apple employees in Towson, United States, approved the brand’s first strike in the country due to “unpredictable working hours” and “insufficient wages”
Store employees Apple in the city of Towson, in the United States, they approved a strike last Saturday (11). The movement seeks to give relevance to unresolved issues in the workplace, according to trade union representatives.

Store employees had been in talks with Apple since last year, in which 25 issues including “unpredictable working hours” and wages “insufficient to cover the cost of living in the region” were discussed.
Additionally, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Organized Retail Employees Coalition (I AM CORE) also accuses Apple of denying benefits to Towson employees and maintaining the same bonuses for store employees who they did not form a trade union.

The Towson store already had a history of dealing with labor issues, as its employees were the first at Apple to join a union, in 2022.
The vote did not set a specific date for the start of the strike. A meeting between the union and representatives of Apple management is scheduled for May 21st.
An official Apple spokesperson stressed that the company works to provide “an excellent experience for our in-store associates” and also gives them the ability to “provide exceptional service to consumers.” The company added that it will contact Towson employee representation “with respect and good faith.”
So far, only the Oklahoma City store appears as another unit where there has been unionization. The New Jersey store took the opposite tack by disapproving the proposal, in a process that would be marked by erratic union-busting actions by Apple, according to an indictment by the Communications Workers of America (CWA).
Apple wins lawsuit against former employees
In the same context, last year Apple won a lawsuit related to the firing of five store employees in Kansas City. At the time, the giant was accused of driving away workers after they allegedly demonstrated unionization efforts.
However, the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) found that there was insufficient evidence to link the layoff to unionization. Apple said employees were fired for showing up late, missing work and not clocking in properly.
