The premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine”, one of the most anticipated films of the year, is getting closer and closer, and Ryan Reynolds has already revealed why he chose an unusual dog to play Dogpool.
The adorable animal, who is actually female and named Peggy, won the title of ‘Britain’s ugliest dog’. But how did this furry girl become Dogpool?
How did you choose Dogpool for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’?
Peggy is a cross between a pug and a Chinese crested breed. He was born in England and his beloved owner’s name is Holly Middleton.
Reynolds, who plays the anti-hero in the film, explained that he fought to cast Peggy because of her unique appearance. According to the actor, he represents the animal version of Wade Wilson, Deadpool’s alter ego.
So what started as a side idea became a fundamental role in the film. Additionally, Reynolds described his relationship with Peggy as “love at first sight.”
Although the main plot focuses on the partnership between Deadpool and Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman), Dogpool plays a pivotal role.
The adorable Dogpool character even has an official Instagram account, where Peggy announced the end of filming on the film last January. In his last message he showed that he has a humor very similar to that of Deadpool.
What powers will Dogpool have in the movie ‘Deadpool 3’?
Details have yet to be revealed about the powers that Deadpool’s sidekick will have, but knowing the humor that characterizes these “anti-hero” movies, there will definitely be jokes about where he will relieve himself.

TikTok user Chepis Puebla explained in a video the origin of this inseparable companion of Deadpool: it turns out that he was a dog with whom they did experiments in a laboratory (similar to what happened to Rocket Racoon from “Guardians of the Galaxy”) especially to test cosmetics, such as a lipstick that replenished when rubbed off.
Faced with all this abuse, Dogpool developed the ability to regenerate or heal himself, unbeknownst to his owners, who trashed him, but managed to survive and join the circus. In that place he was discovered by Deadpool and joined the so-called “Deadpool Corps”.
