Creating a digital voter card is simple and brings a series of advantages. Find out how to use the e-Título.
Summary
The digital voter card is an electronic version of the physical voter card that offers advantages such as access to information, the absence of printed documents and contribution to the preservation of the environment.
To vote in the 2024 elections, a document that can facilitate access to polling stations and, above all, allows Brazilians to vote is the voter card. In addition to the physical document, similar to an identity card or reservist certificate, it is possible to create a digital voter card, without the need to use a printed registration.
By purchasing the digital electoral card it is also possible to access other information relating to the electoral life of Brazilian citizens, such as consulting the polling station, issuing the discharge of electoral obligations or even consulting and presenting the reasons for the elections.
What is the digital voter card?
The digital voter card is an electronic version of the physical voter card, which can be obtained both by those who have already voted in the elections and by those who wish to vote for the first time. This type of title can be obtained through an official application offered by the TSE (Higher Electoral Court) called e-Título.
The e-Título presents various election information and is available for download in the App Store, for devices such as iPhone, and in the Google Play Store, for Android smartphones. Anyone with a regular or even suspended voter card can access the e-Título, and only those with a canceled voter card cannot use the application.
What are the advantages of the digital voter card?
There are several advantages to using a digital ballot via e-Título:
- If the digital version has a photo and the voter has registered with biometric data, it can be presented at the polling station as an official identification document;
- You do not need to carry printed versions of documents, such as an identity card or voter ID card;
- The risk of losing the document is lower since it can be accessed from any smartphone or tablet;
- If you need to have a physical version of the document, you can download a PDF file to print the title;
- The e-Título allows access to various electoral documents and services, such as the presentation of the electoral justification, the consultation of the polling station and the issuing of electoral participation certificates, as well as the payment of electoral debts, if applicable. These documents may be requested, for example, in hiring processes relating to public positions following competitions;
- Less paper is used to produce electoral documents, thus contributing to the preservation of the environment.
How to use the digital voter card?
Access to the digital ballot paper via the e-Título application can only be done by presenting the CPF number. It is therefore not necessary to search for the electoral registration number to use the digital version of the document.
If the person does not have biometric data registered and does not have a photo in the TSE systems, it will be necessary to present an official identification document with photo, such as an identity document or CNH (national driving license). In these cases it is not necessary to present the voter card to vote, as long as the citizen knows his or her polling station and polling station.
The digital voter card can be presented on the day of voting to the electoral officer working at the polling station where the voter is voting. To do this, simply show the e-Título information, on your smartphone screen, to the poll operator to start the voting process.
It is worth mentioning that the digital voter card has the same validity and authenticity as the physical document, as it has a series of security protocols created by the TSE. The electronic version has, for example, coding that helps the authorities demonstrate the authenticity of the security, thus reducing the possibility of counterfeiting.
Step by step on how to create a digital ballot
The digital ballot paper can be filled out completely electronically. The first step is to separate the following documents, which will be used when registering with e-Título:
- Photo identification, such as an ID card, work card, passport or driving license;
- Proof of residency in your name, such as an electricity, water, internet or credit card bill;
- Photo or digital copy of the identification document.
After separating the documentation, follow the steps below:
- Login to TSE website and choose the “Electoral title” option. Enter the required details such as CPF, date of birth and mother’s name. If you already have a physical voter card you can also provide the document number;
- Enter the state you live in in the Federative Unit option;
- Then, follow the guidelines to submit the mandatory documents. You will need to take a photo of your face while holding the document at your side;
- Record the front and back of the identification document, according to the instructions on the page;
- Take a photo of your proof of residency;
- In the case of men it is also necessary to send a photo certifying discharge from military service;
- Subsequently, fill out the appropriate form and select the “I don’t have” option in the area reserved for the voter’s registration number. Please provide your name, parents’ full name, and other requested information.
After completing the process, the e-Título request can be tracked on the same TSE site used to request the digital ballot, in the “Follow a request” option.
The entire process takes place in digital format, via the TSE website and the official application provided by the body, e-Título. It is therefore more practical for those who want to obtain a digital voter card, as it is not necessary to go to an electoral secretariat to obtain the first version of the voter card or obtain the digital form of the document.
Only in case of problems in obtaining the digital electoral card will it be necessary to go to a notary’s office and present the original documents and the copies requested during the procedure. There is also the possibility of photographic recording and biometric data collection on site.
