Discover a summary of the main innovations announced during the first day of Microsoft Build 2024
The first day of the conference Microsoft Build featured a presentation from the company’s CEO, Satya Nadellaand announcements related to Redmond Giant’s AI services, such as the Copilot assistant.
The edition was very focused on news for developers and the corporate world and this may have thrown cold water on many people who were expecting announcements for Windows: an operating system update was not even mentioned in the opening. In any case, Build had some promising features that could reach the general public.

1. Real-time Edge Translation
Microsoft has announced a feature that translate video in real time in Edge browser. The feature, which does not yet have a release date, would be compatible with sites like Youtube, LinkedIn and Coursera. In principle it would be possible to convert from Spanish to English and from English to German, Hindi, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
The company confirms that it plans to add new languages in the future, but does not mention which ones or a release date.
2. Co-pilot for teams
Copilot got a version adapted for professional teams called Team co-pilot: The idea is to use the assistant as an “additional member” of the team, with functions integrated between Teams, Loop and Planner. Some of the skills mentioned include managing projects, planning meetings, and highlighting key points during group conversations.
The new feature will be released later this year to subscribers to the AI Assistant for Microsoft 365 plan. Additionally, Copilot Studio will get more options and integrations to customize your chatbots On Windows.

3. AI assistant in games
Copilot is everywhere, even in Minecraft: the Redmond Giant has announced an AI assistant integration with the game, in which the tool can identify what is happening on the screen and give real-time advice on how to advance on the map. Furthermore, the partnership with Xbox also includes the use of the assistant to answer questions in other games.

4. Phi-3-Vision
The company has announced something new multimodal artificial intelligence model called Phi-3-Vision, focusing on the interpretation of graphs, maps, tables and other visual elements. Like the entire Phi family, the model is considered small compared to those used in ChatGPT and on Gemini, for example.
5. More versatile file explorer
Windows File Explorer has been updated to compress files in 7z and TAR formats natively. Additionally, the application has gained integration with Git systems, which should make life easier for many developers.
