With “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” arriving in theaters on May 24, 2024, many fans will be revisiting the other films that are part of the universe created by George Miller.
The good news for many is that although the film starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth is connected to the saga, it is not necessary to have seen the other films before it.

In what order should you watch the ‘Mad Max’ movies?
Counting “Furiosa”, the saga has 5 films, which can generally be viewed in two series: according to the release date or chronological order of events. The latter is a favorite of many fans as it allows for a richer narrative experience.
“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”
Just released in May 2024, it serves as a prequel to the acclaimed film ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and explores the origins of Furiosa, one of the protagonists of ‘Fury Road’, and her journey through the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
“Mad Max: Fury Road”
Released in 2015 and considered one of the best action movies of all time, it follows Max Rockatansky, who teams up with Furiosa, in her fight against the tyrant Immortan Joe.
“Mad Max”
Released in 1979, it is the first film in the saga and features Max Rokatansky, a police officer in a world on the brink of collapse who seeks revenge when a motorcycle gang kills his family.
“Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior”
The story continues in 1985 and sees Max become a desert wanderer who helps a community of survivors defend their petrol refinery from a band of bandits.
“Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”
The final film in the original saga is ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome’. In this movie, Max finds himself in a city called Bartertown and gets involved in a conflict between the city’s ruler, the divine entity, and the dwarf engineer Master Blaster.
