Last Thursday, May 16, young Sheldon bowed out after more than seven years on the air during a double episode that was rich with emotion for our heroes. Indeed, the Cooper family had to deal with the death of Gorgi (Lance Barber), who died suddenly of a heart attack in the previous episode.
That’s why the last episode was the patriarch’s funeral scene. And while there were a lot of Easter eggs in this finale, there’s one appearance that really went unnoticed by all but the most observant of fans.
Lance Barber makes an appearance
Despite his character’s death, Lance Barber made two physical appearances at his own funeral. The first as a corpse in a coffin, and the second as a dead woman at a funeral.
A spokesperson confirmed what even the most observant fans had noticed: Lance Barber did indeed don a wig, glasses and a dress to appear incognito in this moving scene.

He can be seen at the back of the chapel while George (Montana Jordan) gives praise. The speaker told our colleagues about it Deadline that actor”Everyone was surprised and he came dressed like that“. A nice way for Lance Barber to pay the ultimate tribute to his character.
Why did George die with a camera?
Young Sheldon executive producer Steve Holland explained to Deadline why the production chose not to show George’s death on screen. “We did not want to witness the moment of his death“, he explained.
“We always knew we were going to deal with his death in Season 7, but we never wanted to show it on screen. Discussions mostly revolved around when this was happening in the last few episodes and how the family was going to handle the news..”
Therefore, the producer chose to have George die in the final episode of Young Sheldon to end the series on an upbeat note. “I think Chuck Lorre told us that the show has always been a positive, loving family show. “
“Let’s not let the audience sink into sadness,” said Steve Holland. “Maybe there’s a way to deal with that and then move on and show that the family recovers and ends with a touch of hope.””
Season 7 of Young Sheldon is set to air on NRJ12 in the coming months. The first five seasons are now available on Netflix.
