A May 24 publication made on X by the profile @caimila talks about the problem and has already accumulated more than 16 thousand shares online, as well as several responses from consumers who are experiencing the same situation. The same complaints were also found in Instagram.

Why does this happen?
So far there is no confirmed cause for the incident, which could be a system bug or a specific app issue. Some reports say that the vibration happens after receiving messages from archived conversations on Whatsappwhile others claim that the warning is accompanied by the geolocation icon on the screen, but it is not yet possible to indicate the reason for what happened.
The engineer Victor Candemil is one of the people who experienced the situation: “when you unlock your cell phone you feel a vibration, as if you had received a notification, but you don’t see anything new. It’s been like this for four or five days” , he comments.
OR Canaltech contacted the Apple for more information, but has not yet received a response from the company: the article will be updated with a possible response.
It’s worth noting that the issue appears to be affecting many Brazilians, but there are no reports of this happening in other regions on Apple’s official forum and iOS communities on Reddit. Some comments about the issue in English were posted on Reddit in September last year, but there are no more recent posts.

How to Fix iPhone Phantom Vibration?
It is not yet possible to solve the problem without finding the cause. In this case it is worth trying some methods and checking if the mobile phone stops vibrating for no reason:
- Restart the device;
- Disable and re-enable vibration;
- If the location icon appears, tap to see which app is using it and view notification settings;
- Update system apps.
The situation will probably be corrected with an update of iOS itself or of the application responsible for notifications. In the meantime, you can report the issue to Apple’s official feedback channel at apple.com/feedback/iphone.
