The representative of the Sao Paulo team was heard by the ICC for manipulation of gambling and betting and asked for the owner of SAF do Botofogo to be banned from Brazilian football

The president of Palmeiras Leila Pereirawas heard by the CPI for the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting this Wednesday (5), in Brasilia.

The session began with the senators Romario (PL-RJ) e Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) thanks the Palmeiras representative for her participation.

Even before the first question was asked, the president harshly attacked the senator from Goiás, who had said that generally a woman does not know what a ball is when she goes to watch a football match, and senator Margareth Menezes.

Immediately afterwards, the representative of the Alviverde team criticized John Textor, majority owner of SAF do Botafogo, in relation to the accusations made by the American entrepreneur of an alleged manipulation of the results to favor the Sao Paulo team in the 2023 Brazilian Championship.

“I cannot disqualify two titles won by Palmeiras. I know the work we do within the team and how difficult it was to win these titles. I cannot let a foreigner come here to Brazil to say these things just because he lost the title due to of their inability,” Leila said.

Leila continued her statement by saying that she has not yet seen the evidence presented by Textor and that if he does not prove what he alleges, the businessman should be banned from Brazilian football.

“He has to prove what he says. If he doesn’t prove it we will file a compensation claim against him. So far I have not seen any evidence and I have no doubt that he will have to be banned from Brazilian football,” he said…
