With “Stranger Things” Season 4 Volume 2 now available, audience anticipation and the attention of the Duffer brothers are now turning to the final season and what’s to come next, as a potential spin-off to the series.
But the Duffer Brothers are more focused on finishing the series than on what’s to come next, which for them could mean passing the baton to someone else to carry on the duo’s work. In an interview with colliderMatt and Ross Duffer talked about the future, including a potential spin-off, and how involved they would be in this production.
“In the end, the hope is to pass the baton to someone else. Because when we finish it, it will be … God, it will be almost 10 years. It’s going to be about my full 30 years, “said Matt Duffer.” So that’s another five or ten years of commitment to this thing. I don’t think you can get in halfway. a really great version of us, let’s say, doing the pilot and then dropping it. “
Then Matt explained that he and his brother Ross aren’t the type to tackle their projects separately. “You are in the editing room every day. You are in color. You are on the sound. Are you totally there or not. What interests Ross and me is that we’re developing the story, which we haven’t told anyone yet. I don’t even know if anyone will like it. We are very excited about this, that’s all I know. But Netflix was nice, they’re not pushing us too hard, honestly, about it. They are very patient with me and Ross.
As the end of “Stranger Things” approaches, Matt Duffer agrees that the pressure for the spin-off is mounting. “The pressure starts to build. I’m starting to get more messages about it, especially since we talked about it in the press and they don’t know what the idea is. Finn Wolfhard, I think he said in the press, you know what it is just because you guessed it. If you really guess right, I’ll tell you, but he’s the only one. “
Season 4 of “Stranger Things” is available in full on Netflix.
