Remember…exactly 30 years ago, singer Dolores Van Cartier once again donned Sister Marie-Clarence’s cassock and agreed to return to work at a Catholic school threatened with closure by an unscrupulous businessman. Then he set out to accompany the students in the music class and create a choir.

Years have passed, but the emotion and enthusiasm that filled the scene at that time has not aged a bit. Evidence: For the film’s anniversary, Whoopi Goldberg and several Sister Act stars were on the set of the TV show The View.
For the occasion, the actress once again donned her nun’s garb and led the rest of the group with a particularly upbeat reinterpretation of the famous song with unbridled gusto. In place of Lauryn Hill, who was playing the title role at the time but was unable to be there on the day, it was Tanya Trotter who ably performed the opening solo of the piece.
At the end of the performance, which also featured Kathy Najim, Wendy McKenna, Sheryl Lee Ralph and other actors from the film, Whoopi Goldberg was overcome with emotion and couldn’t hold back tears.
Full of nostalgia and joy, the scene is a must-see for all fans of the film.
