Cristiano Ronaldo praises the evolution of his career and arrives at the European Championships confident: “It’s been 20 years at the highest levels”

The Portugal star will be competing in his sixth European competition and is looking for the second title of his career

The 2024 European Championships will be special Cristiano Ronaldo. In his sixth and, quite possibly, last top-level continental competition for Portugal, the star wants to end a twenty-year history with a second championship for the Seleção das Quinas.

Before the start of the competition, the five-time best player in the world gave an interview to UEFA and spoke about the evolution he has had as a player over the course of his career.

– Year after year, we always try to improve some aspect. I think there are always things to improve and refine. As we age, we also lose skills. If a player wants to have longevity he must have great adaptability. It is no coincidence that they have been at the highest level for 20 years – analyzed the attacker.

Having established himself as a fast, dribbling winger at Manchester United, Ronaldo reached his peak at Real Madrid playing on the flanks of the pitch. At Juventus, however, in his second experience with the Red Devils Al-Nassr, has become a centre-forward, less mobile, but with the same eye for goal. He currently has 893 goals, dreaming of reaching his thousandth goal.

– Each player has their own style, but I try to help my teammates in a way that I consider productive. I want to be a player who helps others, someone who they admire, who they see as a role model and who is a good professional. I like to lead by example, as I always say – said CR7.

Top scorer and player with the most matches and editions in history, Cristiano Ronaldo will have the mission of leading Portugal to the European Cup title: it would be the second in three editions. To do so they will have to pass through group F, which also includes Turkey, Georgia and the Czech Republic. The first match will be played on Tuesday (18th), at 4pm (Brasilia time), against the Czechs.
