David Harbour’s film failure after “Stranger Things”: Ryan Reynolds helped him

“Stranger Things” was a global phenomenon, and even its fourth season confirmed several fan theories. The actors who appear in it have enjoyed the success of the series, but they have also participated in other productions that have not been as bright.

Such was the case of David Harbor with a film he starred in in 2019, which was a colossal failure. To overcome it, the actor enlisted the help of Ryan Reynolds, we tell you the details.

This was David Harbour’s (Hopper in ‘Stranger Things’) film that failed

Despite having a long history in the world of acting, “Stranger Things” was a turning point in David Harbour’s career. Not only because he shared credits with Winona Ryder (who you can also see in “Autumn in New York” for free and in Spanish on ViX), but also because the series was well received by the public.

Somehow, after being Jim Hopper in “Stranger Things” since 2016, offers for David Harbor to participate in new projects started pouring in.

He was even offered leading roles, such as “Hellboy”, which he accepted in 2019. Directed by Neil Marshall, it was a “reboot” of Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 and 2008 films. He was the main character, the paranormal detective with diabolical appearance called Hellboy.

However, this new adaptation of the character from the comics was not well received by fans, let alone critics. There are those who even argued that instead of a ‘reboot’ they should have made a third part of Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro’s films.

This is how David Harbor recovered from the failure of “Hellboy”

It was not easy for David Harbor to deal with this failure, especially after he found fame with “Stranger Things”. This was confirmed in an interview with GQ on July 4, 2022.

“It was a very difficult experience because I wanted so much from her. I really like Mike Mignola [creador de Hellboy]I like this character. And then right when it started, even when it was announced, I realized that people didn’t want to reinvent that character. I was very naive and optimistic about what we were going to do.”

To overcome this bad moment, the actor confessed that he resorted to the help of Ryan Reynolds himself:

“I know him a little. I called him and said, Hey, I just need to know something. Do you know Green Lantern? Big fall for you. What the hell is this; Because I think I’ll make it now. I’ll be fine? Will I survive this?

He later stated that Reynolds was very sweet with what he said to him. Despite everything, David Harbor bounced back from this career blow.

Even later he was integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) under the character of Red Guardian or Alexei Shostakov in the 2021 film “Black Widow. And of course, he’s recently basked in the glory of success after the fourth season of “Stranger Things” premiered on Netflix.
