After six seasons, Vikings fans have to say goodbye to the streak they created Michael Hirst. Ending in 2020, this epic show was a real success thanks to its stories of Nordic legends such as Ragnar, Rollo, Bjorn, Lagertha or Ivar.
While some already know the end of the series, others waited until the second part of the sixth and final season was released on Netflix to find out how the Vikings’ adventure would end. So how does it end?
At the start of the second part of the sixth and final season VikingsBjorn (Alexander Ludwig) is in a very bad place after a great battle against Russia, led by Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) and Ivar (Alex Hogg Andersen), with the help of his brother Hvisterk (Marko Ilso).
Back in Kattegat, Bjorn manages to use the last of his energy to devise a plan and lead his troops into one more battle against the Russians before dying a hero. The Vikings celebrate this one last time before enshrining his remains in some kind of temple.
With the Russians losing the battle and Bjorn dead, Ivar turns against Oleg and manages to escape with Hvitserk, Katya (Alicia Agneson), Oleg’s wife, and Igor (Oran Glynn O’Donovan), the rightful heir to the Russian kingdom. under the supervision of Oleg. Together they restore power to Igor and overthrow Oleg and his militia.
Ivar and Hwisterk return to Kattegat to find King Harald in power and offer him to restore honor to the Viking people by avenging Ragnar. They then meet King Alfred of Wessex (Ferdia Walsh-Pillow) in an epic battle in which Harald and Ivar heroically lose their lives.
After the battle, Hvitserk stays with King Alfred. He converts to Christianity and is now called Athelstan, as a monk camped by George Blagden, a former friend of Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel). We don’t know which direction the young man will go, but it looks like he’s finally at peace with himself after everything he’s done, including killing Lagertha (Katherine Winnick) and that he’ll form a new alliance with Wessex. .
Things have changed a lot in Kattegat, and now the land is ruled by Ingrid (Lucy Martin), a witch and Bjorn’s ex-wife. The young woman achieved her goals after the departure of King Harald and the death of Eric the Red, who wanted to use her and whom she succeeded in blinding and killing. Ingrid follows in the footsteps of Lagertha, a mighty and brave warrior, but also in the footsteps of Gunhild, who has left her seat and taken power in Kattegat, promising a new era of reign.

For his part, Ube (Jordan Patrick Smith) left the Kattegat with his companion Torvis (Georgia Hirst) to pursue his father Ragnar’s dreams of expeditions and discover new lands to settle new colonies. With the help of another (Ray Stevenson), Ubi manages to discover a new land and new people after a fatal stop in Greenland, where he left Ketil, who once again betrayed him.
Ubbe and his crew find Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), who was left dead in Iceland at the end of season 5. The Viking survives and helps Ubbe get to know his new surroundings. The series ends with an image of Ubi and Flock on the beach, looking for a horizon and a new future.
