Around 1,040 street cleaners from the Centre, Far South, North, South and East sections work in cleaning services in the neighborhoods most affected by the Guaíba flood
The task force of the Municipal Department of Urban Cleaning (DMLU) to clean the city after the flood reaches 25 locations this Wednesday 12. From May 6, when work began at relief points, until Tuesday evening. Friday 11th, 54,752 tons. of waste were removed from the streets, such as remnants of damaged furniture, scraping of accumulated sludge and sweeping of rubbish.
Approximately 1,040 street cleaners from the Central, Far South, North, South and East sections work in cleaning services in the neighborhoods most affected by the Guaíba flood. Workers are supported by more than 420 pieces of equipment, including trucks and backhoes. The activities are coordinated by the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Services (Smsurb).
Waiting Area – Residents and businesses can dispose of post-flood waste at one of the waiting locations below:
– Land near the Federal Revenue Agency – Avenida Loureiro da Silva, 678 – Historic Center – from 8:00 to 22:00;
– Land in Serraria – Avenida da Serraria, 2517 – from 8:00 to 18:00;
– Land in Humaitá – Rua Voluntários da Pátria, S/N, Access 4 – from 8:00 to 18:00;
– Land in São Geraldo – Avenida Cairu, corner Rua Voluntários da Pátria – from 8:00 to 18:00.
– Lands at Avenida dos Estados, 1713 – from 8:00 to 22:00.
Holding areas are areas close to flooded regions, where the DMLU dumps collected materials. Subsequently the waste will be sent to the inert landfill of Gravataí.
