BRASÍLIA – The Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday the 12th, with 400 votes in favor and 29 against, the proposal of the President of the Chamber Arthur Lira (PP-AL), which creates the precautionary suspension of up to six months for deputies who violate decorum. After deliberation, the measure was automatically promulgated by the people of Alagoas and entered into force.
The vote had only one abstention, that of federal deputy Ricardo Salles (PL-SP), former Minister of the Environment under former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Another 83 parliamentarians were absent from the deliberation.
The proposal is Lira’s political response to the collection of mines witnessed by the Chamber of Deputies last Wednesday 5th. On the same day, the deputies Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), André Janones (Avante-MG) and Zé Trovão (PL-SC). It almost came to blows and MP Éder Mauro (PL-PA) pushed a left-wing protester who provoked supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Amid the confusion, 89-year-old MP Luiza Erundina (PSOL-SP) fell ill and was hospitalized for three days in a hospital in Brasilia.
