Pixar’s animated film “Inside Out 2” grossed about $155 million at the box office in theaters in the United States and Canada this weekend, according to estimates released Sunday.
The Friday-Sunday tally surpasses the $82.5 million “Dune: Part Two” raised in March.
In international markets, “Inside Out 2” had grossed a global total of $295 million through Sunday, research firm Comscore said.
The findings encourage theater owners, who have fewer films to screen this year due to delays caused by last year’s Hollywood strikes.
