Bold Type, which translates here as “Those Who Dare,” is a series that will air in the United States from 2017-2021 and is available here on Prime Video. Inspired by the life of Cosmopolitan’s editor-in-chief, it follows the personal and professional adventures of three New York friends (played by Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee and Megan Fahey) who pursue their dream of working at Scarlett. magazine’s successful woman.

But while they try to find their place in this glamorous and ruthless world, they also have to fulfill themselves as young women, between love stories, betrayals and the dictates of social networks.

A series about millennials

In the late ’90s, Darren Starr envisioned the adventures of four New York friends as they navigate the ups and downs of love and professional life in the Big Apple. Almost 20 years later, The Bold Type offers the same approach, but from a millennial perspective.

In Exit Carrie, our new heroine is named Jane, and like Miss Bradshaw, she draws inspiration from her own experiences and the experiences of those close to her to write articles about sex and romantic relationships.

Strongly feminist, The Bold Type tackles topics that particularly affect women, from harassment to issues related to sexuality or the body in general. Without falling into pathos or moral lessons, it is above all positive, caring and sometimes funny, thanks to these three heroes who support each other in both happiness and adversity. A pleasant series that does good and warms the heart.

You only have to look at its ratings on AlloCiné to know that The Bold Type has hit the thousands of viewers mark. With an average of 4.1 out of 5, it was praised for its modernity (especially when we talk about social networks and their impact on real life), brilliantly handled themes and its lightness.

If you want to get started and catch the series before it leaves the catalog on June 30, know that the series has 52 episodes spread over 5 seasons. And all of them are worth seeing!
