Giant robots: the top 5

The North American production “Círculo de Fogo” is inspired by kaijus and mecha, elements of Japanese science fiction present in manga, anime and games. Kaiju refer to giant monsters, such as Godzilla, while mecha are giant robots, often piloted by humans.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the film is set in a future where Earth is attacked by giant monsters that emerge from a portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

To fight them, humans build giant robots, piloted by two mentally connected people. The cast includes names like Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi.

Directed by Michael Bay (“The Bad Boys”, “Armageddon”), this is the first film in the film saga based on the Hasbro toy line.

The plot of “Transformers” follows the conflict between two giant robotic alien races, the Autobots and the Decepticons. Both races can transform into various mechanical objects such as cars and trucks.

The cast includes names like Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Megan Fox, John Turturro and Jon Voight.

Based on the short story “Steel” by Richard Matheson, “Steel Giants” is a science fiction action film starring Hugh Jackman. The plot takes place in the near future, where traditional boxing has been replaced by fights between giant robots.

In the plot, a former boxer (Jackman) builds and trains his own robot with the help of his son (Dakota Goyo). The cast also includes Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Durand.

Directed by cult horror director Stuart Gordon (“Re-Animator”), “Robot Jox” is a dark post-apocalyptic sci-fi featuring giant robots.

The film is set in a future following a nuclear holocaust that has devastated much of humanity. The remaining nations abandon conventional warfare and begin resolving their conflicts through combat between giant robots, controlled by human pilots known as “Robot Jox.”

The film stars Gary Graham, Anne-Marie Johnson and Paul Koslo. The screenplay was written by Gordon and science fiction author Joe Haldeman.

In this sci-fi action film, Jennifer Lopez plays Atlas, a counterterrorism analyst who pilots a giant combat robot.
