This isn’t the first time the actor has had a negative opinion about Black History Month.
Morgan Freeman once again criticized Black History Month, celebrated in February in the United States. In an interview with Varietythe actor stated that his story is American.
I hate. The very idea of it… Will you give me the shortest month of the year? And you will celebrate my history? This whole idea makes my teeth itch. It’s not right.
“My story is the American story. It’s the only thing in this world I’m interested in — other than making money and having a good time and getting enough sleep,” he continued.

It’s not the first time that Freeman has a negative opinion about Black History Month. “Are you going to relegate my story in a month?” he asked in an interview with The Sunday Time’s Culture (via NME).
“Also, ‘African-American’ is an insult. I don’t agree with that term,” he added. “What does that really mean? Most black people in this part of the world are mixed race. And you say ‘Africa’ like it’s a country, when in fact it’s a continent, like Europe.”
