“13 Going on 30” isn’t the only film from the 2000s that is still beloved by audiences, as 2002’s “Scooby-Doo” is fondly remembered by fans of the original series and those who knew the characters, such as Shaggy or Fred on the big screen.
Here we show you what happened to the careers of the main cast of ‘Scooby-Doo’ and how much they’ve changed 20 years after that movie premiered.
Matthew Lillard
Lillard brought to life Shaggy Rogers, the canine best friend of Scooby-Doo, a role that lasted not only for the sequel to this film, but also for other projects such as video games, animated films and series.
He was also successful on TV, with Daniel Frye in ‘The Bridge’ and Luke Bosh in ‘Good Girls’. In 2021, he joined the cast of ‘He’s All That’.
With the role of Shaggy, Matthew Lillard had special appearances in other franchises such as “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” (2011), “Supernatural” (2018) and “Teen Titans Go” (2019).
Freddie Prinze Jr.
The domineering, serious and handsome Fred Jones was played by Californian actor Freddie Prinze Jr, who is also known for his role as Cole Ortiz in the series ’24’.
Prinze Jr. has been part of the “Star Wars” universe since 2014, when he lent his voice to Jedi Master Kanan Jarrus for the “Rebels” series. He wrote several episodes for ‘WWE Smackdown’ and even has a podcast dedicated to wrestling called ‘Wrestling with Freddie’.
Freddie Prinze Jr. has been married to Sarah Michelle Gellar since 2002 and the couple currently has two children: Charlotte Grace Prinze (2009) and Rocky James Prinze (2012).
Sarah Michelle Gellar
She played the beautiful and elegant Daphne, who was a vital member of the Scooby-Doo team, even though she was often lost with her boyfriend Fred.
Sarah Michelle Gellar worked on “Scooby-Doo” at the same time as Buffy Summers on “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” a series that ran from 1997 to 2003.

After “Scooby-Doo”, he developed much of his career in television, in series such as “ER” (2003), “The Good Family” (2009), “Mad Men” (2013) and “Hawkeye” (2021) , where she plays Laura Barton.
Candellini returned to the Scooby-Doo franchise in ‘Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’, but not in the role of Velma, instead voicing the character Marcy Fleach for 8 episodes.
Rowan Atkinson
The most famous member of the cast of “Scooby-Doo” was undoubtedly Rowan Atkinson, a British actor and comedian who enjoys worldwide fame thanks to his role as Mr. Bean.
In the movie, the famous investigator was Emile Mondavarious, a character used by Scrappy-Doo to lure the gang to Spooky Island to finish them off once and for all.
Apart from Mr Bean, Atkinson also worked in other films such as ‘Johnny English’ (2003), ‘Love Actually’ (2003), ‘Keeping Mum’ (2005), ‘Johnny English Reborn’ (2011) and ‘Johnny English Strike Again’ (2018). In 2022, he will premiere his new film, “Man vs Bee”, through the Netflix platform.
